Media Reform SC, Inc. is a South Carolina nonprofit, 501(c)(3) corporation. We operate in a nonpartisan, nonsectarian manner. We are concerned about threats to freedom of the press and dedicated to encouraging the free, full, and accurate flow of information in order to preserve and enhance democracy. We promote understanding of how media ownership has limited and distorted the types of news and information available to citizens.
We began as a project of the Social Justice Committee of the Unitarian Church in Charleston in 2010. We are now an independent organization and have expanded to include members of the greater Charleston community. We welcome new members who are committed to working in our community and state to foster media that will sustain vibrant democratic institutions and promote healthy, prosperous lives for everyone.
MRSC Brings Low Power FM Radio to Charleston
Last year we applied to the Federal Communications Commission and, this year, were granted a construction permit to bring low power programming to your FM radio dial. We believe that media brought to us by our community and for our community is more powerful and meaningful than media brought to us by corporate sponsorship.
Media Reform South Carolina presents to you WOHM, Ohm Radio 96.3 FM. With your support, we will provide listener-supported, non-commercial, locally-produced programming dedicated to serving our community in Charleston, S.C.
Join our Indiegogo campaign and help raise start-up costs! We need you!
